With new animation, art style, and new mew mew look , also with the new mew mew grace.
The new Tokyo Mew Mew anime has begun, now show that mew mew enthusiasm with a smiling emoji face 😁😁😁.

Oh boy! I've been waiting a while to use this phrase just for this new Tokyo Mew Mew anime
ever since I've heard it was getting a new anime.
Also I'll point out a few things for people that doesn't know:
*This is a 20th anniversary reboot/remake that will follow a true adaption (maybe)
*This reboot/remake is airing in the same month as the og one but would've been more iconic it's same day as well being the 11th of July.
*The differences is that the girls looks + different outfit attire is cause original creators did a anniversary illustrations and epilogue redesigned for 20th anniversary + two chapter sequel piece "Tokyo Mew Mew 2020 Re-Turn".
*The animation definitely has that shojo feel.
*Episodes are only gonna be 12 which it should be more then enough since original manga is 7 volumes (33 chapters) + 2 volume sequel (which may not be in this.) + two chapter redone piece.
*If you are wondering should I watch the og series before I watch this?... My opinion it's optional but just go with the newer one, reason it's 52 eps which = canon/filler to this.
*New VA cast than the og anime.
*The animation and visuals are hot crisp AF.
*Good OP and ED.
*OG series studio was Pierrot, *Reboot series studio is Yumeta Company + Graphinica.
*New VA cast created a music idol unit for the theme songs for promotion.
*If you are guessing this is like Sailor Moon, it is yes but this trope genre has been around for while and this's basically Sailor Moon but with Animaimorphs or furry if put it as that.
*Sentai Filmworks/Studio has rights for this, so if there be a new English dubbed it will be under them.

Last: Also lets have moment of silence for the fans of this franchise that didn't make it during the covid crises or other and to Tokyo Mew Mew illustrator Mia Ikumi whom passed away back in March due to subarachnoid hemorrhage. 🙏🙏🙏

Edit: Took a while for Gogo to bring this out and Jashin-chan.

As a die hard fan of the original I'd definitely say it's worth watching but that's just my biased opinion 😅. I'm curious how they're going to fit all the important scenes in just 12 episodes.

It's already a lot different from the og with Mint being a part of the team before Ichigo, and she seems a lot nicer but maybe that'll change in the later episodes. Aoyama is a lot more masculine too in both voice and looks. I've never read the manga but I hope the overall flow of the story isn't too different from the og anime.

Really looking forward to this!

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

As for the slight changes in story would probably be the Tokyo Mew Mew Re-Turn 2020 manga piece but that's just a guess but I do know the new redesigned is from the updated piece since I've read up on it on articles.
As for part of the manga which I'm currently reading was slightly accurate on at the very beginning but the battle was different, and the accidental kiss was accurate.

I do miss ogata megumi for his voice tho. Like she had a really good male voice my favs were for season 0 of ygo and kurama from yyh

Sisconnkid • 1 year ago

Pouring one out for all of them. May they rest in piece.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Latom 🙏

When I heard Ikumi-san died before even seeing the release...
It hurt... a lot.

*If you are wondering should I watch the og series before I watch this?... My opinion is it's up to you but also don't bother, reason it's 52 eps which = canon/filler to this.

I'd say it's worth experiencing.
It's like Shaman King :D It's full of fillers, but the newbies will understand what we experienced :D

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

True. And I've already watch the OG recently and in all honesty I first watch it when it aired on tv in English dub by 4Kids but I didn't see all the dubbed episodes since there was issues airing it on the co that was airing it at the time so I've only got far as 12 eps. So since the middle of April and up to the beginning of June I've finish it but 1 to 2 eps a day.
Currently reading the manga since been to behind on the Spring anime lineup and had to catch up.

So I can watch whatever version first?

Nice!

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

vovan1 • 1 year ago

I'm only here for history purpose. I swear.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

Only 12 episodes!?

It might be "enough," but that will never be enough. T_T

theultimategamer95 • 1 year ago

YOOOOOOOOO FINALLY! Probably my most anticipated anime this season ngl, the original anime was genuinely my childhood. Very excited to see what this reboot has to offer!

Also, not ashamed to say that Zoe/Ichigo was my first ever anime crush lol

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Same here man ^^ been waiting ever since I've heard about this

wwlaos • 1 year ago

Haha, she was no where near my first, but I definitely had a thing for Zakuro back in the day. ;)

theultimategamer95 • 1 year ago

I kinda did too rewatching the series a few months back lol, can't blame you.

Satoshi Ookami • 1 year ago
Zoe

I see you were a man of 4kids :D

theultimategamer95 • 1 year ago

Well as a kid, yeah (like probably most people with anime back then). Didn't have internet back in the day and didn't even know what anime was, it just came on the TV one day and started following it lol. Did rewatch the series in Japanese a few months back though. English one is still enjoyable, but pretty annoying they scrapped it halfway through, and some of the earlier episodes are in the wrong order. Still a nice piece from the childhood though :P

Cats will save the world!

piplupcola • 1 year ago

You know this is an anime if the 90s when Aoyama takes off his Kendo mask and the first thing on my mind was "wow he's so basic".

vovan1 • 1 year ago

the original ikemen definition in anime.
Now used as side characters

Sarka Vajnerova • 1 year ago

This is kinda funny. It was same with Sailor Moon and Shaman King. This is REMAKE. It done as new anime, not copy of old one. I get that nostalgia can get in way but can we just watch it without comparing every second to the original? And that comes from someone who is watching anime for 16 years. I saw lot of garbage too and this is not that bad. Yes, Ichigo looked cuter with pink hair, yes, Mints snark was cool etc but this is new version. It wont be as long as original and they wont waste time with fillers. I loved old one but i will watch this with open mind. And, btw, i liked SM Crystal too. It was more like manga and i always liked manga more than anime lol.

Helene Trøstrup • 1 year ago

Ikr. If you want a copy of the old one, go watch the old one. 😄

I am really looking forward to what they're going to do with it. It's so different already. It's been so long since I read the manga, I don't remember the differences between the manga and the anime, so I can't tell if this is closer to the manga or not.

Regardless, I'm sticking it out, that's for sure. It got me into anime 16 years ago, so how can I not?

Sarka Vajnerova • 1 year ago

My first anime were Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, Slayers and butchered Mew Mew Power lol. Its kinda off hand but as fellow long viewer do you too feel sad for people that wont watch old anime cause it 'looks bad'? My no1 isekai is and will be Twelve Kingdoms but people just wont watch it...

Helene Trøstrup • 1 year ago

I adore old anime. I don't care if it looks bad, I'd be watching old anime for the story, the old charm and the voice actors who are no longer here (or to catch some of the earlier work of the ones who are still here but are getting on in years). Considering that one of my favorite voice actors died in May of 2000, it doesn't give me a whole lot of options for new anime as far as he goes. 😄

I grew up mainly with Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Crayon Shin-chan, Hamtaro, Silver Fang, and Mew Mew Power, all dubbed of course. I could only start my anime journey with what I knew, so I started with some of these in the good old early days of Youtube because little 12 year old me didn't even know where to begin looking for it. 😂

I have never heard of Twelve Kingdoms. It looks interesting, the line up of VAs isn't bad at all either. I think I'll be giving it a chance once I get back from vacation.

Sarka Vajnerova • 1 year ago

Twelve Kingdoms is great isekai. I love female MC and her growth. No romance, no fanservice, solid story, great characters (there is speaking mouse and he is great) and fantasy aspect is kinda unique even for today. Hope you will like it, i will be glad if you write how you liked it after watching. ❤️

Helene Trøstrup • 1 year ago

I'll try to remember to let you know what I think of it! 😄

I think my number 1 isekai would be MÄR (Märchen Awakens Romance), it's great fun and even after 14 years, I am still not over the curveball of a plot twist they threw at the viewers at the very end of the show.

Satoshi Ookami • 1 year ago
My first anime were Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, Slayers and butchered Mew Mew Power lol.

This lineup...
And your Czech sounding name.

May I assume... Animax?

Sarka Vajnerova • 1 year ago

Lol. Animax and A+ from 22h lol. I used set up recording on VHS and let it record overnight. I was around 17 at that time and i woke up at 3 at morning to watch before school lol. Later i got internet and started watch on my own. My english wasnt good and i had germany at school and there wasnt that much subtitles yet so i had to learn english on my own. Oh, memories...
But yeah, Czech here.

Satoshi Ookami • 1 year ago

Yep, yep, original A+ as well.
Immediately knew it had to be like that :D

Because I had the same experience, zdravím krajanku :D
Even earlier than 17, for me it was around first year of high school so around 15.
I still remember pretty much starting with Full Metal Panic episode 4 the hijack scene with a lot of blood.
Great irreplaceable memories.

Sarka Vajnerova • 1 year ago

I always loved animation. X-men, spider-man, Iron Man, fantastic 4 from 90's was my shows lol. And then i found A+. Inuyasha. I remember thinking 'its not eng, wtf is it'. It was episode 13 when he turned human for the first time. Its funny how we remember it lol.
A super, neznám moc lidí co koukají na anime a když už tak o tom nemluví veřejně.

Dazed • 1 year ago

Bc the boys have sparkle eyes?

Sarka Vajnerova • 1 year ago

Can you specify what do you mean by that plese?

Dazed • 1 year ago

Sailor moon male characters always have eyes that have a very feminine sparkle or shine. Like they've got a glittering starry night sky inside their pupils. It's a staple for 90s anime which were more female oriented.

Porthya • 1 year ago

Afaik, anime always goes the extra mile on the sparkle, it's manga who manages to keep things simpler. If there's an art-style quirk that makes shoujo/josei manga male characters stand out more it would be their fancier hair and softer facial features, indeed more elfin and feminine, but I hardly remember any sparkle tagged to them...but if you mean it when the FL/MC puts on the rose goggles and starts crushing, it might go that way and it's not so far from the reverse in shounens when the ML/MC finds his absolute waifu.

lilly11223 • 1 year ago

Gotta say I really do like the new art style and there seems to be better chemistry/interactions with the male lead...or maybe it's just me (All i remember is I didn't ship the mc with aoyama LOL)

I'm waiting for kishu's appearance though...(aside from the opening)

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Most likely he will being eps 2 or 3 since this post follow up with the manga and the 2 piece chapter anniversary volume.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

Ryo >>>> Aoyama

wwlaos • 1 year ago

AHHHH~ I've missed my Mew Mew girls so much~ ♥ Lettuce~ ♥ Mint~ ♥ Zakuro~ ♥ And of course, best boy Ryo~ ♥ (What about the other characters?) I'm so happy to see you again! :D (No, seriously, you're forgetting a couple...)

Haha, those first few seconds were instant nostalgia. Can't wait for this to continue! I wonder how many episodes we'll be getting. :/

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

In honesty Lettuce is my fav and her og outfit was so lovely ♥

xCellarxDoorx • 1 year ago

I strangely never heard of this show before, but it looks freaking adorable!

ShycoWar • 1 year ago

Daaang. They sure wasted no time deviating from the original's timeline, huh? Actually pretty excited to see how the plot is going to unfold now.

Also, those are some pretty interesting new designs for the girls. Mint's new hairdo and the younger-looking Zakuro with a ponytail caught me way off-guard :P

wwlaos • 1 year ago

Every time she was on screen I couldn't stop staring at Mint's new hairdo. XD

If you mean timeline as OG anime one, well, yes, they want to adapt manga properly :D
